The easiest way to use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) at SUNY Ulster is with the Microsoft (MS) Authenticator app on your mobile device.
New York State law and SUNY policy require that SUNY Ulster Faculty, Staff, and Students use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). This page is intended to provide helpful resources in setting up and using MFA.
Be sure to install the Microsoft Authenticator app. There are many apps called "Authenticator," and some of them have similar icons. Make sure you are using the one from Microsoft.
You will need to install the Microsoft Authenticator app from the App/Play Store on your mobile device first.
After the app is installed on your phone, launch it. Use the plus (+) button, or other appropriate button, to add a new account. If prompted, choose "work or school account" then "Sign in."
You will be prompted to log in. Use your SUNY Ulster username and password, and your current MFA method (if you already have one set up).
After tapping "Next" you should get a screen that says your account has been added. You should now see your SUNY Ulster account listed in the main screen of the app.
